I am the managing editor of Journal of Linguistics, the journal of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain (LAGB), published by Cambridge University Press. The Journal of Linguistics office is located in the Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex at the University of Essex, UK.

Before moving to Essex, I was a part-time member of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Wales Bangor. I taught a variety of linguistics courses, including English Grammar and Issues in Educational Linguistics. My doctoral thesis was entitled Aspects of the syntax of prepositions and prepositional phrases in English and Polish (University of Oxford, 1986). My first degree was in English Philology, from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. The article ‘Prepositional phrases as subjects and objects’, Journal of Linguistics 20, 355-374 (1986), remains my main research publication.
