I came to Essex in the fall of 2003. Before that, an very nice accident took me away for one year to amazing Mongolia. It was just as well, as I was on my way out of the Institute of Economics of the University of Copenhagen, where I was an assistant professor from 1999 to 2002. Before that I had a great time in Italy at Universita di Modena, courtesy of Graziella Bertocchi, and in Israel at the Hebrew University courtesy of Joseph Zeira, and in California at UCSD, courtesy of Leora Friedberg, and in Portugal at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, courtesy of Vasco D'Orey, and of course an excellent time in graduate school at Boston University, where I studied Macroeconomics with Russell Cooper.
