Welcome to CLINT 2001

A new and stimulating way to deliver Criminal Law.

REVISION

Why New?

From week 11  the Criminal Law course will be taught in one-hourly classes, once a week.  This is in place of lectures and tutorials.   You will be working in groups with a tutor exploring in detail topics taught in weeks 1-10. The criminal legal skills that you have acquired in term 1 will be the basis of the methodology you use in term two to enable you to answer the problem questions.   The problem questions can be found in your syllabus.

Why Stimulating?

The essence of weeks 11 - 20 is focused on student centred learning.  This will be an opportunity for you to lead the class discussion rather than the tutor.  The tutor's job is to facilitate your learning and to make sure that you don't go wrong.  Prior preparation is necessary if you are to benefit from this medium of teaching.  It will also be useful for you to use your student study groups both before and after the class sessions.

What Do I Have to Do?

Prepare for your class in advance (night before is not a good idea!).  Turn up to the right class(See the first year noticeboard).  After the class write up your notes and case notes and file them away for revision.  If you have any problems in understanding what is going on in the class raise this with your tutor.

When Does This Start?

The course starts in week 11 week beginning Monday 15 January 2001.

How Will I Be Assessed?

The course is assessed by assessment and exam.  You are expected to write answers to a problem question and an essay question as your second assessment.   This must be handed in to the Undergraduate office by Monday 19 March 2001.  The exam takes place in term 3, details will be posted on the Law Undergraduate notice boards nearer the time.

Can I Comment On The Course?

We welcome comments on the course. You will have an opportunity to make your views known in our survey that will be made available to you after commencement of the course.
