Louisa Sadler

photo of louisa sadler I was an undergraduate student at the University of Sussex where I did French in the School of African and Asian Studies, spending my year abroad at the University of Dakar, Senegal. I then worked in Algeria teaching English in a secondary school in Tlemcen before coming to Essex for an MA and PhD in Theoretical Linguistics. As a PhD student (and subsequently) I spent 3 summers working as a UNIPAL volunteer (mainly on English language summer programmes) in the Palestinian Occupied Territories (at Birzeit University, with the Red Crescent in El Khalil, and in Nablus). After a year working as a part-time lecturer and research officer at Essex in 1983-4 I moved to a lectureship at the University of East Anglia in 1985 and back to Essex in 1986.
