Dr. Marcos Paredes Farrera


 

Dr. Marcos Paredes Farrera is a senior research officer for the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of ESSEX; where he is carrying out postdoctoral research.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electronics from the former ESE department at the University of Essex, UK since 2005; an M.S. degree in Telecommunications from the SEPI-ESIME since 2000 and in 1997 a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications from the ESIME both of them at the “Instituto Politecnico Nacional” in Mexico City.

Fields of interest include traffic monitoring and analysis in heterogeneous networks. The research covers high speed networks including Optical cross connect, SDH and carrier-class Ethernet; and wireless networks covering, Bluetooth, WiFi and WiMax. Best performance for Real time applications such as H264 HD video streaming and VoIP. Network performance, analysis and validation with MRTG, SNMP, tcpdump PbP measurements and network simulators ns-2, Opnet and NCTuns.

Current Project: Internet traffic analysis on Heterogeneous networks, Senior research staff at the HIPNeT project.
