Phone us: To utilise our confidential listening service, you can get in touch with our main lines on 01206 87 2020/2022. Alternatively, if calling from a landline number, we also operate a freephone on 0800 326 5454.

If you live in campus accomodation and have chosen to download the Freewire Phone you can call us free of charge on 224 2020 and 224 2022.

e-mail: For confidential e-listening, email nlhelp@essex.ac.uk. Although all e-mails will be treated confidentially and anonymously, at present, if using your existing e-mail accounts Nightline staff will be able to see your e-mail address. If this concerns you, a temporary e-mail address can be easily created at sites such as: GMail and Hotmail

.

Contraception: We provide two free condoms or femidoms for anyone who calls at the flat in person. We also provide lubricant.

Emergency Accomodation: If you are unable to get home for any reason or find yourself suddenly without a bed for the night, we offer a place to stay on a first come, first serve basis.

Tea & Toast: Nightline is a place to come and unwind, whether that's after a night out, taking a study break or if you fancy a general chat.

Campbeds: Hire out a campbed (£1.00) and blanket (50p) for two nights, if you have anyone staying over. As well as the fee, a form of ID (your reg. card is fine) must be left as a deposit.

Information: Nightline can help signpost a variety of professional services for any particular needs. If you're unsure of where to turn to, we can help you find the right information.

Pregnancy Tests & Panic Alarms: We offer pregnancy tests (£1.00) and panic alarms (£2.00).

Detox Room: If a student is unable to get home because they are worse for wear, we will help look after them, and give them a place to stay for the night.

Alternative University Services:

For any concerns or queries, the Student Support website provides a wealth of information.

Greenwood House is an on campus, confidential counselling and mental health support to individuals and groups, free of charge, to registered University of Essex students.

Out of Hours:

If you wish to talk to someone outside of our hours (10pm - 8am), you may contact the Colchester branch of The Samaritans; who provide a similar listening service to our own.
