Brief CV
Born in London, 1956. First class honours degree in Physics
at UCL (1975-78). D.Phil. degree in Theoretical Physics at
Oxford University (1978-81). Postdocs in Particle Physics at the Landau
Institute in Moscow (1981-82) and DAMTP, Cambridge University (1982-1984).

in Electronics at Liverpool Polytechnic (1987-1990) and Essex University
(1990- to date).
Current Major Research Interest
1. Performance analysis of communication networks.
Current Minor Research Interests
1. Application of ASIC technology (FPGAs) to the design and construction
of special purpose processors
for statistical mechanics.
2. Digital CAD - Automated digital design, especially for ASICs.
Past Research Interests (i.e., current hobbies!)
1. Theoretical particle physics (QCD, String Theory).
2. Condensed matter physics ( bandstructure calculations for semiconductors,
quantum size semiconductor devices, high temperature superconductivity).
